Forever 21

Forever 21 is known for all their styles, constantly changing their clothing, and pretty much staying updated with trends. Forever 21 has clothing for everyone, but a problem with this is that their clothing is made usually for “tall, white, skinny people”. But one thing that is a plus for Forever 21 is that they have a plus section, which is for those girls that are bigger. There are certain sizes for skinny bodies and then there are bigger sizes for other people, and then there are people who can not find clothing because they are stuck in the middle. Which can be hard for many people because they end up really thinking about their body, they become more conscious about their body. Especially nowadays, when the ideal body is being skinny or even having a small waist and a big butt or thighs. Also there are magazines, commercials, and ads that have these type of models in them that make us even more conscious.

From my own experience as an employee at Forever 21, I have noticed that as spring is getting closer the clothes is getting smaller. For example the dresses are getting smaller and there is a lot of crop tops arriving to the store and from  crop tops they have also created bra covers, which you would think that only skinny people would wear this because other kind of bodies would be too conscious to be showing too much skin. Not only is this clothes affordable they also have options for people,

but I think they do not have enough options for people. This is something the company could work on because there is such a diversity in body types.

Another thing I believe they should change is the models that advertise the clothing because if you look at commercials, not only with clothing but make up too it is usually skinny people advertising the clothing.

One company I think we have all noticed that has extremely skinny models is Victoria Secret. When you walk into this store it is most likely that we will see skinny people shopping in this store because if you think to yourself, I don’t think a bigger person will be comfortable shopping in this store. Something I have also noticed is that there are companies that are creating all kinds of clothing for different types of bodies. For example, Good American, which is a clothing company created by Khloe Kardashian. This company has clothing for all type of body types and not only does it have variety of sizes but it also keeps up with trends, so people aren’t left out. Many companies are improving on creating many sizes and I think this is also improving people’s self conscious and making them more comfortable.
