There are many different types of clothing styles that are worn around the world. It does not revolve around one culture but different ones as well. As far as I know, there are many different types of clothing worn in different countries. For this blog post, I will talk about the clothing styles in Guatemala, Canada and the US and how they differ between one another.
The clothes worn in Guatemala has a traditional and symbolic meaning, compared to the clothes are are worn in the United States and in Canada, as well.
The clothes we wear have different meaning across different cultures. For example in other countries the clothes they wear represents something like their country and how it is. Some places in Guatemala has a specific type of clothing, which are known as cortes or trajes, that are hand woven by the people. Since it is handmade and the type of material, this type of clothing can be sold at a high price. Each villages in Guatemala has their own specific style of traje. There are also different types of weaving techniques that are incorporated along with different types of clothing. The amount of material used in a corte varies from village to village, using from two to six yards of fabric with sometimes additional fabric added for length. These don’t only represent the women’s are work and dedication but they also incorporate every color, which makes their clothing pop and vibrant like its culture, it is very diverse and colorful with all its scenic views, gardens, beaches, and antique ruins. The clothing styles from Guatemala is unique and traditional than the types of clothing we wear in the United States and in Canada. In other countries like the one we are in, which is the United States, I personally think that we just wear the clothes we want to wear. For example, we wear what we like or what is in style or what is trending and that millennials are always keeping up with the trends. Also, clothing Styles Across Different Cultures are very different, especially like the one in the central Canadian Arctic where they use Copper. In different Inuit Ceremonial Clothing, this is a symbolism of dance and the ceremonial dress ensemble. These are made from thin dark furs of of caribou, which are harvested early in the summer seasons. Their clothing was a way to show their creative skills and preserving ancestral traditions through clothing design.
The clothing styles in Guatemala and the Canadian arctic is way different compared to the one in the US. First of all, there is a meaning behind what they wear and there is a whole process involved behind the clothes. For example, in the United States the majority of the clothes is made in China or in other countries, while in Guatemala it is made there. Some people even make their own clothing and just buy the fabric and sow it themselves, while the United States has their clothes made by machines and is then shipped here. I think having the opportunity to make your own clothes is better because you can customize it yourself.
